ME-GI secures large order for VLCC

MAN Energy Solutions has won the order to supply 10 MAN B&W 7G80ME-GI Mk9.5 dual-fuel engines to a series of 10 300,000 TPM VLCCs distributed among shipowners, Advantage Tankers, AET and International Seaways. Another new segment for the ME-GI, the new builds will operate globally as charter flights for a major oil company. HSD Engine will build the engines in Korea, while DSME will build the vessels, again in Korea. The new order follows a series of recent orders announced globally for the engine in recent months. MAN B&W two-stroke engine operating on ammonia

Decarbonisation is a central and highly integrated part of developing sustainable technologies and solutions at MAN ES. However, as decarbonisation remains a global endeavour and one of the largest transitions within the maritime world, it will require a united maritime industry to question and evaluate the entire supply chain. The Innovation Fund Denmark supports the AEngine project with the aim to design and demonstrate an ammonia-based propulsion system. MAN ES is the AEngine project coordinator and part of the cross-functional project team together with Eltronic FuelTech (fuel supply systems), Technical University of Denmark and the classification society DNV GL. As an important step towards a carbon-neutral economy, MAN ES has joined forces with important players on the market in the launch of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping in Copenhagen. The combined global and cross-disciplinary effort will ...

Navantia presents an amphibious ship configurator based on modular design at the IDEX fair

Navantia has presented at the IDEX fair the new Landing Platform Deck (LDP) configurator, which allows the different alternatives of a ship to be customized to the client’s needs and which is based on an innovative modular design system. In naval design, each ship is unique depending on the missions required, the areas of operation and capabilities required, usually becoming a prototype of that series of ships. The modular design provides agility in the design which reduces manufacturing and life cycle times and costs, facilitates the incorporation of new technologies and provides greater operational flexibility to multi-mission vessels. Navantia is a pioneer in the naval sector in the use of this technique, which consists of dividing the ship into modular units associated with different capacities, such as air capacity, habitability or propulsion system. Thanks to this configurator, the client can ...
