Navantia presents an amphibious ship configurator based on modular design at the IDEX fair

Navantia has presented at the IDEX fair the new Landing Platform Deck (LDP) configurator, which allows the different alternatives of a ship to be customized to the client’s needs and which is based on an innovative modular design system.

In naval design, each ship is unique depending on the missions required, the areas of operation and capabilities required, usually becoming a prototype of that series of ships. The modular design provides agility in the design which reduces manufacturing and life cycle times and costs, facilitates the incorporation of new technologies and provides greater operational flexibility to multi-mission vessels.

Navantia is a pioneer in the naval sector in the use of this technique, which consists of dividing the ship into modular units associated with different capacities, such as air capacity, habitability or propulsion system.

Thanks to this configurator, the client can configure the ship adapting it to their needs, including or eliminating features as desired and easily. The configurator presented at the Idex-Navdex fair allows the customer to visualize the different configurations.
